PBS Arts - Fall Festival Logos

I created some logos for the upcoming PBS Arts Fall Festival. The design company that worked on the first round had fallen through so the in-house department was tasked with picking up their design and re-crafting it. That meant we had to incorporate certain elements that the original design company began with that the client wanted to keep.

  • a circle graphic(s) that represented a spotlight
  • a graphic swoosh of some kind
  • a handwritten font for the “Fall Festival” text

Lastly, the words “PBS Arts” needed to work as an independent type treatment/logo. It could incorporate the PBS PHEAD graphic but it wasn’t a requirement.

Gowalla - Re-Imagined

From time to time, to stretch my creative legs, I like to venture into uncharted waters. And seeing as how I already gave Foursquare a piece of my mind, I thought it was time to turn my attention towards Gowalla.

I wanted to re-layout (not redesign) the check-in screen to be more in keeping with what I wanted. Gowalla has some nice features that I think are hidden or not available at all in the iOS app that I wanted to bring to light.

Masterpiece Mystery! - Summer of Intrigue

Working with Beehive in NYC, we created a spot to promote Masterpiece Mystery!’s summer lineup. It features the likes of Poirot, Miss Marple, and a new character called Aurelio Zen played by Rufus Sewell & based on the popular mysteries by Michael Dibden.

SXSW 2011

I did several print pieces for this year’s SXSW conference. The goal was to prominently feature the main act (Trombone Shorty) using the PBS branding packaging to tie together several different types of promotion. The venue, date, and time were secondary pieces of information.

From 1st concept to printer: a little over two weeks.

Frontline - The Choice 2008

This spot almost gave me an ulcer. We finished the entire spot, all the while presenting it to Frontline at various stages (storyboards, rough animation, etc.). Only after it was completely finished did Frontline decide they didn’t like it. So we had to start completely over. But alas, it lives here.

PBS Vote 2008

We completed an exhaustive campaign for the upcoming 2008 election cycle. It included logos, ID’s, show specific spots, vote centric spots, proof of performance spots, and more.

Here’s a small taste of what we produced:

Logos

Designed and produced in-house, these included On-Air, Print, and Online with primary & secondary versions.

A :60 promoting the overall campaign

Show Specific Vote Spots

Taking the footage we used for the image spots, we cut them down to be show specific. Here are 3 versions that we produced.

System Cue

We needed an ID to help bridge the gap between some shows so they asked us to produce a small :05 graphic animation.
