2018

Following a successful 2017 season, the Washington, D.C. chapter of the Auburn Alumni Association invited It’sWilder to continue in an expanded role as Communications Director and member of the Board of Directors for the 2018 season. With higher expectations and a growing audience, the goal for 2018 was to elevate the chapter’s creative output with a fresh campaign—while continuing to grow engagement and reinforce the Auburn brand at the local level.

Over the course of the season, more than 100 custom creative assets were developed and deployed across social, email, and event communications.

For 2018, we introduced an entirely new visual campaign designed to reflect the energy of the team while staying true to Auburn’s core identity. The focus was on creating a flexible design system that could scale week-to-week while maintaining consistency across platforms. The result was a distinctive look and feel that felt both official and uniquely tailored to the D.C. alumni community.

Game Day Content

Each weekly matchup was treated as a mini-campaign. Custom-designed assets were created for every opponent, with multiple formats optimized for Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and the chapter newsletter. Content was strategically scheduled throughout the week to maximize reach, anticipation, and engagement leading up to game day.

Event Promotion & Community Engagement

Recurring watch parties were supported through dedicated Facebook Events, giving alumni an easy way to RSVP, receive reminders, and engage in pre-game discussion. This helped turn weekly games into consistent community touchpoints rather than one-off events.

Live Game & Post-Game Content

To sustain engagement throughout game day, a variety of supporting assets were produced:

• Morning hype graphics featuring iconic Auburn imagery to kick off the day

• Final scoreboards shared across platforms to recap results and spark conversation

• AP Poll rankings posted weekly to track the team’s progress throughout the season

Editorial & Cultural Content

One of the most successful recurring series was a weekly quote feature highlighting notable Auburn alumni, posted each Thursday under the hashtag #TRT (Throwback Thursday). These posts tied Auburn history and pride into each week’s matchup and became a fan favorite throughout the season.

Photography & Event Documentation

Special events and watch parties were documented on-site, producing curated photo collections that were shared with members and made available for download. These visuals helped reinforce community, celebrate participation, and extend the life of each event beyond the day itself.

Results

The 2018 season marked a significant step forward in both creative execution and communication effectiveness. The chapter’s cohesive, campaign-driven approach earned the “Most Outstanding Communication” award at the 2018 Auburn Club Awards, recognizing the strength and consistency of the club’s branding, social media presence, and overall communication strategy among more than 100 competing alumni clubs nationwide.
